What a fun compilatation. What do you think of Space by Prince?

Very clever... now let's see one about all the moons! :-)

I'm afraid I don't know Space Zen :o$ Why, you think I should cover the whole cosmos??

As for you Griz...good to see you back! Where on earth have you been? For the moons, I think perhaps I would have to start writing songs...and a rhyming dictionary would probably come in useful too!

Sorry, I duplicated a couple of yours there.
I agree moons starts to open up a huge (often banal) area but how about an honourable mention for St Judy's Comet - Paul Simon?
The Fat Man

Hi Anonymous...I mean Dad! Ha ha...you should use 'The Fat Man' as a proper nickname on here, rather than just being anonymous!

I must admit, I didn't have Dinah's This Bitter Earth, but did have A Stranger On Earth by her... of course, Earth was one of the ones where the difficulty of the task was in whittling it down, rather than looking for sufficient songs that were at least partially decent (as was the problem with 'Uranus'!). I didn't know or have The Deftones' track either, but I'm guessing the boys helped along with that one?

But since when was 'martian' a planet??

Oh, and I decided not to duplicate on artists too...otherwise Pluto by Bjork would have been another great song. And Hendrix seems to have covered the majority of them somewhere in his catalogue!

Congrats on losing your commenting virginity!

Great theme idea.

A few more...

Mercury Poisoning - Graham Parker
Venus Stop The Train - Wilco
We'll Inherit The Earth - Replacements
Mars Needs Guitars! - Hoodoo Gurus
Planet Queen - T. Rex

The farther out the planet, the tougher it gets.

Hi Paul...and welcome, welcome etc. etc.

The only one of those I've even heard of is the Hoodoo Gurus track, so you're several up on me there! T-Rex...how about 'Ballrooms of Mars'?

I struggled a little to find songs I actually like for Saturn and Uranus! There weren't a great many for Neptune, but those that there were were good songs, I think. As for Pluto...quite a lot to choose from. People must feel sorry for it and its relegation!
